When comparing mens US shoe size in India, a good rule of thumb is to minus .5 from the the US shoe size which will result in the correct Indian shoe size. For example, a size US 9 would be a 8.5 size in India.
For Euro sizes, it’s best to consult the table as the numbers vary a lot. So an Indian shoe size 7 in Euro would be size 40-41.

While the above conversions are a great guide, not all shoes are made equally. Equally in size that is. Some shoes will run small or large depending on the manufacturer. So it’s always best to try and measure the shoe and your feet when possible.

If you are in India or even on Amazon, one quick tip that will save you tonnes of time when shopping for shoes is to remember that UK and India shoes sizes are actually exactly the same!
This compatibility in shoe sizing goes back to the time when India was once a colony of the British. Fast forward a few hundreds years and this is still rubbing off on Indian culture. In the below tables you will see that I have added India shoe sizes along with the UK sizes to see the parallels.[/su_box]
How To Measure & Fit Indian Shoe Sizes?
1. Try on shoes in afternoon:Â As a good rule of thumb, for both adults and children, it’s always best to try on shoes in the afternoon. This is due to our feet and ankles swelling throughout the when we stand and walk for prolonged periods. So if you have ever purchased shoes in the morning and wonder why they are tight in the evening, thats why!
2. Wear socks:Â Also while trying on shoes, it’s always best to wear your favourite socks as depending on the thickness, can add to the size that you will need. Thick business socks for example can add a whole additional size.
3. Measure feet:Â When possible, it’s always best to measure your feet as each shoe, slipper, boot manufacturer have subtle differences in their sizing. When shopping for shoe in India, use the UK shoe size as it is exactly the same. To get a true measurement, stand on a piece of paper and measure from the heel to the tip of the big toe.
4. Allow additional room:Â Another good tip is to allow for extra room in the shoes so your feet won’t feel restricted and this allows more room for your feet to grow.
Wrapping It Up
When it comes down to it, it’s always best to use a Indian shoe size chart when searching for you next pair of runners, sneakers or sandals. And if you can’t get your hands on a conversion table, always remember that UK and Indian shoe sizes are the same! Hope this helps!
