How To Find The Perfect Size Shoe For 1 & 2 Year Olds + Babies?
1. Try on shoes after 3pm: When looking for shoes, whether that be for kids or adults, it’s always best to try on shoes in the afternoon. This is because throughout the day, due to standing and walking, our ankles actually swell to a larger size. So to avoid loose shoes, try or measure feet after 3pm.
2. Wear your favourite socks: Along with trying on shoes in the afternoon for your toddler. It is also best practise to try on the shoes with their desired socks. This extra thickness can someones mean the difference in a size depending on the type of sock. End result is more comfortable shoes and less complaining!
3. Measure feet: For accurate sizing for your girl or boy, it is best to measure their feet while your young one is standing on the ruler. Best method is to pencil mark from the heel to the longest toe. This will give you a good indication of whether their feet are on the small/average/larger side. You can click here for a printable ruler in centimetres and inches.
4. Allow for extra room: After measuring your child’s feet, it is also recommended to allow an extra 0.5cm – 1cm or 0.19″ – 0.37″ of extra wiggle room for extra comfort and wiggle room. This will also allow for growth of your young ones feet for the coming months.
5. Pro tip: It is to also recommended by podiatrists to measure both feet as sometimes lengths can be different.
